FAQ

What is your warranty?

Our industry leading 5/10/20 warranty ensures our customers are fully protected. Our 5-year installation warranty covers our workmanship. Our quality windows are covered with a 10-year warranty against manufacturing defects. And a 20-year manufacturer’s warranty covers window seal failure to ensure against moisture and fogging between the windowpanes, and it ensures the exterior window frame will not fade, chip or peel.

How long does it take to install? Wha are the timelines from quote to completion?

Quality windows and installations takes some time and will range by season, so patience is appreciated. Window installations are not scheduled until all materials are received. Although it will vary, to fabricate and receive the windows expect 16 to 20 weeks on average. Once the windows are received in our warehouse, we then schedule their install approximately 6 to 10 weeks out.

Do you charge to quote for window replacement?

Quotes for window supply or supply and replacement are free!

What is your quoting  process for window replacement?

We start with a phone or showroom consultation to ensure we are the right company to meet our customer’s needs. At that time, a salesperson is often scheduled to come to your home. There we are better able to assess what we call the building envelope. This helps us determine everything required for the exterior installation. The interior of the home is also assessed for its installation needs. We discuss the reasons you are changing your windows as well as your budget and wish list. In doing so we are better able to suggest the right products and installation service.  Once our assessment is complete, a free quote is written for your consideration.

Do you take deposits for window replacement and window ordering?

Yes. Once an order is placed a deposit is received. Contact our showroom for more details.

Yes. Can my new windows be painted?

Generally, new window frames can be custom painted though some are easier to paint than others. Wood framed windows for example actually require staining or painting and this needs to be maintained on a routine basis depending on several factors: moisture, UV, weather etc. Exterior window frames generally do not require a whole lot of maintenance. Budget friendly products like vinyl windows are typically not painted both because they are built in a colour and because vinyl requires specialty paint, adding cost which makes an upgrade to a different type of material like fiberglass a better choice.

Are triple panes better than dual?

Probably the biggest benefit in purchasing a triple pane window over dual pane, is a reduction of sound transmittance. There is indeed added energy efficiency with triple pane windows, but the added cost can take many years to recapture through energy savings. In addition, triple pane glass adds weight to a window, so hardware components need to be built to match the weight. If not, premature failure of mechanical components can occur and this can add cost. We do sell triple pane windows, but usually because the client lives in an area where traffic noise is a concern, and they are trying to reduce sound transmittance, not for energy savings.

Do you offer financing?

We do offer financing through a 3rd party. Fees are added to this service by the financing company. These fees are passed along to the customer. We ensure all fees are shown on the invoice. Other companies do not. We have all seen advertising that claim “12 months financing or $500 cash back,” We all know this $500 is built into said fees in order to cover that cost. We do not feel this kind of approach benefits our customers so we never have and never will have deceptive promotions. We try to ensure our customers are made aware that more affordable financing options can generally be coordinated through their local bank or credit union. Banks offer home equity loans and other loan options with interest rates and fees that are usually lower.

What kind of glass coatings are available? What do they do?

The primary glass coating is low emissivity, low E for short. Multiple layers of low E coating are available: Low E1, low E2, low E3, (numbers stand for how many layers added). Low E coatings helpe reflect the UV rays and the infrared rays, either in or out of the home, depending on the seasonality. This is with regards to the sun’s elevation, in winter or summer and its reflections off of that low emissivity coating  to gain solar heat in the home or reflect it out. Other glass coatings we are asked about are bronze tint or tinted glass but they are generally not of benefit or relevant to our area and our climate zone.

What do new windows cost?

Windows come in wide range of options and styles, so it really comes down to what the customer’s wants and needs are. Are they looking for affordability? Durability? Low maintenance? Do they want a wood, vinyl, aluminum, or fiberglass frame? What kind of components and hardware finishes are they interested in? What exterior finish are they after? To establish a budget our salespeople are experts at helping customers find the windows they want by helping them determine their best options according to their wish list and budget.
